Verity Knowledge Solutions, previously known as UBS Verity is a Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) firm based in Hyderabad with over 350 employees. The main services include Investment Banking, Corporate Advisory, Equity Capital Markets etc.,

Selection Procedure:

The shortlist is based on CGPA and usually they stick to a cutoff of 7/10. The first round would be a personal interview, where the recruiter asks about your academia interests, based on interests the questions are posed. Their main criteria is to choose those candidates who have sound technical knowledge of their desired field of interest, which they feel that they could eventually convert into the interests of the organization. However a student with strong finance background or someone with command in basics of finance can crack the selection process easily.

After the completion of first round, few students will be eliminated and the rest will be called for another interview, where the HR and the technical team will test their stress levels and  there is a possibility to convert the interview into a technical one, based on your performance.

Placement Experience by previously placed students:

PERSONAL INTERVIEW (TECHNICAL)

It started with the usual ‘Tell us about yourself’. As I told them about my financial internship in bank treasury and the stuff I learned during the summer there, I was asked questions on the bond market, yield to maturity, yield curve and what does it indicate. I was asked questions on the on­going European debt crisis and the reason behind it. I talked about the conditions prevailing in Greece and Spain, austerity measures being taken, EFSF, ESM, Rating agencies, difference between GDP and GNP, comparison of Debt to GDP ratios and Yield curves of European countries with that of India. The questions were aimed to test the in­depth knowledge in finance as they focused more on the concepts than mere definitions and formulae.

Simultaneously, I was asked technical questions on genetics molecular markers, restriction enzymes, cancer, etc. Since, I had a good CGPA and research experience in biotechnology I

was asked the reason behind not going for higher studies. I explained them about my inclination towards finance and they were easily convinced because I showed deep rooted interest and had a sound knowledge of it too.

PERSONAL INTERVIEW (HR)

The HR interview was just for 5 minutes and very informal. I was asked questions about my family background, inclination towards finance, why biotechnology, weaknesses, and any other companies I had applied for. In the end, they asked me how convenient will it be for me to move

to Hyderabad. It was pretty chilled out and the panel was jovial throughout.

SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCES

The panel was friendly and interviews were all conducted without any hassles. I was totally calm

and relaxed the whole day. The key to selection here was having thorough knowledge and to speak fluently with confidence.

SUGGESTIONS TO ASPIRANTS 

UBS Verity being an Investment Banking Analytics Company was looking for people with a strong drive to work in the field of finance. My financial internship turned out to be an invaluable asset to me, so if you are looking forward to working here in the future, try getting some exposure to finance. The technical interview evaluates how strong your fundamentals are both in the field of finance and you branch. The level of questions goes on increasing as you keep answering all questions correctly. So, do good research on topics you are good at and since the questions were asked at a rapid pace, being spontaneous with your responses is an advantage here
